Smartphones that will receive the One UI 8.5 update
Samsung surprises with One UI 8.5: These models will get the update
Samsung is working on One UI 8.5 based on Android 16, and it won’t be exclusive to the Galaxy S26 series. After a 4-year break, the company revives the “x.5” update naming, planning a large-scale rollout.
One UI 8.5 will debut with the Galaxy S26 lineup and will soon expand to dozens of Galaxy models. Previously, Samsung paused such versions after One UI 2.5, releasing only minor x.1.1 builds, but that strategy now changes.
Skipping 7.1 and 7.1.1, Samsung jumps directly to 8.5, primarily due to the delayed rollout of One UI 7.0 which left no room for interim updates.
While the official release date is unconfirmed, leaks suggest One UI 8.5 will be unveiled in January or February 2026 with the Galaxy S26. Initially available to that series, it will gradually reach other models.
The list is based on devices eligible for One UI 8.0, mostly released post-2022 with ongoing support. A wide distribution is expected.
